How do I fix program errors?

When I am using applications like Firefox, or Internet Explorer, it always errors out. It also errors out a lot when I play games like Counterstrike. I have tried reinstalling Windows, I have tried adware scanners, registry cleaners, but nothing seems to work. Is there any thing else I can do? Is it possible for me to buy some kind of hardware that will allow me to fix this?

Here are some specs of my computer:
Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00GHz
1.99 GB of RAM

Please let me know if you need additional information. Thanks.
How do I run a memory test? Do you think it’s possible for me to just buy new ram?

Also, I am not getting that many blue screens after the reformat.

Answer:

are you getting bluescreen of death? does your screen turn blue when erro occur? if yes run chkdsk and see if bad cluster is detected if it is replace your hdd.

Run a memory test, because the problems you describe should not happen after a format if your RAM is ok.
